New Earlimart Album, SXSW Dates

Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray of Earlimart spent most of last fall locked up in the studio to record Hymn and Her, their newest album to be released in July of this year. They just released their last effort, Mentor Tormentor in August of 2007. They’ve decided to buck the rules of the music industry and are hellbent to release a new record every fiscal year for the next ten years, unless they decide they don’t want to. “We record the new album really quickly…we didn’t wanna wait another 3 years to make another record. We just wanna keep making stuff,” says Espinoza.
That’s pretty unheard of. Respect for Earlimart.

If you think that’s nuts, they duo is already planning their follow-up to Hymn and Her. The band if in negotiations with a satellite company to release records via space. “We’re light years ahead of Radiohead,” Espinoza declares.

Hymn and Her was written and produced by Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray at the band’s Ship Studio in Eagle Rock, CA. The making of the record was quick compared to the two years of work that went into Mentor Tormentor, and it proves to be more organic and diverse than anything the band has done before. The band has over the years metamorphosed into a two piece – an introspective songwriting team whose recordings have lush production quality.

The pair will perform songs for the forthcoming record for the very first time at this year’s SXSW:

Mar 12th – Blaze TV @ Austin Convention Center (Bat Stage), 7pm – FREE tickets handed out before the show
Mar 13th – Spaceland Party @ Antone’s, 1pm (No badge required)
Mar 14th – Porchlight Fest @ Salvage Vanguard Theater, 2pm (No badge required)
Mar 14th – SXSW Showcase @ Buffalo Billiards, 11pm
