Presidential Watch! "Crucial" Primaries

The race for the Republican’s party nomination was presumptively secured by John McCain yesterday as he swept Vermont, Rhode Island, Ohio and Texas for a total of 1,226 delegates, surpassing the 1,191 needed to solidify his party’s nomination. Though promising to remain in the race until the end, Mike Huckabee has dropped out. Ron Paul will continue his run.

The Democrats are still in a tight race as Hillary Clinton won the much needed states of Ohio and Texas, while also taking Rhode Island. Barack Obama decisively won the state of Vermont and still leads Clinton in delegate count, 1,451 to 1,365. To win the Democratic Presidential nomination, a candidate must secure 2,025 delegates.
